Detailed description of the work

I have affectionately worked on this diptych, enjoying every moment of responding to the delicate fuzzy texture and colourful flowery pattern of the backdrop. To bring emotion into this composition, I wanted to somehow revere the bright yellow flowers against the dark and light purple tones – all of which seemed to enhance the concept of romance, happiness and celebration. To do this, I used both large and small rounded brushes.

This artwork is special to me because it was when painting these pieces that I become more conscious about the natural way art seems to be helping me to create relationships in this world – whilst at the same time using my visual narrative to depict life’s many day-to-day experiences of joy and romance.

My passion is to take my small part to play in being responsible for collective change, which always happens individually, person-by-person, event-by-event.   The realisation came to me that I might be able to give a chance to couples like ‘Charlotte & Laura’ to discover the colours of life; to celebrate from within their own feelings.  Sometimes this entails saying goodbye to the darkness; to say something provocative within a given culture, in ritual or in worship; perhaps only in a small way, behind closed doors.

I wanted to create an inspiring painting, giving healing to others but also to myself; exploring both emotions and conflicts.  I consider it to be healing on multiple levels to become more self-aware and to find resolutions about life, no matter who you are and how you love. This is thus a great depiction of fearless love for a warm-hearted art-collector.

“Our Relationship is meant to be. Something that was written in the stars and drawn into our destiny”Anon
